Post subject:  Placemt of X Bracing and Tone

Hey guys,

I made a post last night about my LMI Parlor concerning using a 24.9" scale 14 fret to the body over what the plans call for which is a 24.5" scale 12 fret to the body neck. We resolved that issue and decided I need to move the X brace forward and widen the X out to accommodate the bridge placement.

My question is this:

Concerning tone, what does moving the X brace forward or backward do. Have any of you experimented with this?

Thanks for your input,

Bob

on a 14 fret 25.40 scale, I try to have the front side ( closest to the soundhole) between 9 to 9 1/2" from the 14th fret, ..... more than 9 1/2 makes the top too stiff, and too forward makes for a muddy tone to me....of course there is more to it....
